Get Fit Team Challenge

The Get Fit Team Challenge is a 10-week weight loss and fitness challenge.

Create or join a team which makes getting fit way more fun. The main objective is to team up, set weight loss goals, and earn points for doing the thing you know you should do- but don’t.

Feel free to sign up as an individual and be added to a team.

Season: Program runs January 8th-March 19th

Divisions: Teams of 8-15 participants (Members Only) Memberships may be purchased to participate and must be active throughout the entirety of the competition.

Event Outline:
The 2023 Get Fit Challenge is built around measurable goals- fitness improvement and aesthetics. The point system and weight loss measurements will be tracked as the participants will be able to combine both this year.

The event is 10-weeks total with the first and final week for measurements. The Fitness Director will reach out to previous team captains for assistance with the registrations of participants. Once teams have been organized, they will be distributed to team captains (see below).

The team captains are the instructors participating, Jeff and Vincent. The team captains will do their best to maintain participant adherence and focus throughout the event. However, participants are responsible for checking regular communications from the captain and participate in team workouts to achieve maximum results of the event.

Captains are encouraged to be creative in their own unique way to motivate during the event. For example, weekly shout outs with mini prizes for each participant. Communication will be critical for success which the captains will do their best to keep their participants informed through social media, email, and group messaging.

Each participant will be awarded points for class participation and incorporate their weigh-in for overall team points.

Team workouts will be held during regular group exercise class sessions except for TRX and Cycling. Team workouts may revolve throughout the event in which provides a greater experience to the team and accommodating participants availability to participate. Although it may be beneficial for participants to schedule their workouts, having a consistent class time is available. The option to hold a separate team workout outside of the regular class schedule is available to the ability of the team captain.

Group exercise classes which have a high participation rate, captains will communicate with each other to not overload a group exercise class. We do not want to ruin our regular members and participants experience due to oversized classes.

Rules

Team workouts will be mandatory with the ability to miss two during the event. More than two missed workouts will eliminate them from the prize category; however, their points and weigh-in will continue to be included within the overall team count.

Assessments & Measurements

The “Push-up”, “Sit-up”, and “3-minute Step” test will be introduced as part of the measurements and follow the 2-minute evaluation for Push-up and Sit-up tests. This will be optional for everyone; however, participants will be awarded prizes for the most improvement in each category.

Before and after fitness and body composition analysis is offered to participants upon request. Teams doing their initial weigh-ins will be the first week of the challenge with the fitness staff.

Weekly weigh-in will be held after their team workout with the team captain. Weigh-ins must be completed the same week (Sun-Sat) to be included in the team total. Missing two weigh-ins will result in a forfeit of prizes.

Points

Participants receive points for classes on the same day. Participants will only be able to accumulate four points each day excluding the “All Team” workout. There will be tracking sheets in all areas of group exercise for the instructor to record. Participants must participate at least 75% of the allotted class time to earn points. Teams will receive a point for each “perfect attendance” class from their participants.
