  Bison Kids Club

2024-2025 Academic Year 

Who: Children Kindergarten through 5th grade

What: Extended learning opportunity in partnership with McCook Public Schools

Where: McCook Elementary School (M-T, Th-F), YMCA of McCook (W)

When: August 2024-May 2025

Enrollment: Bison Kids Club is currently accepting enrollment packets for the 2024/2025 school year! At this time, students will be placed on the waitlist once packets are filled out and returned. Completed enrollment packets may be returned to either the McCook YMCA or either McCook Elementary or McCook Central. You will be notified as spots become available! 

Enrollment for Incoming Kindergarteners: Incoming kindergartners may complete an enrollment packet and return the form to either the McCook YMCA or McCook Elementary. However, kindergartners will not be notified of available space until late August and will start in the program after Labor Day.

Programs Goals
Bison Kids Club is a collaboration between McCook Public Schools and the McCook YMCA. The McCook Public Schools and McCook YMCA Bison Kids Club is based on structured learning opportunities and aims to improve academic success in the classroom. Bison Kids Club participants are empowered to become independent, critical thinkers, who have strong self-management and social skills.  Our weekly activities will include the promotion of academics, physical well-being, STEM skills, arts integration, character and leadership traits, homework help, and literacy skills. 

Guidelines & Registration
Participants must enroll in the Bison Kids Club for the entire 2024-25 school year. Participants are expected to attend for at least one hour each day and 3 days each week to receive maximum program benefits. Those who do not meet attendance requirements may have their spot terminated at the discretion of the program director. Space is limited for the Bison Kids Club based on the mutual goals of McCook Public Schools and the McCook YMCA. Our intention is to expand on enrollment for the future based on the needs of the community.

Sample Daily Schedule

3:30 - Pick-up from School

3:45 - Snack

4:00 - Homework /Academic Activity

4:15- Physical Activity

4:30 - Large Group Activity (Art, STEM Challenges, Social Emotional Learning, etc.)

5:00 - Structured Free Play

5:30 - Parent Pick-up

NOTE: The program will take place at the YMCA on Wednesdays and participants will swim at the Y. Please send your child with a swimsuit and towel on Wednesdays.
