The Ed Thomas YMCA is excited to present special event options throughout the year. See below the special events currently being offered!

Spring Spectacular Disc Golf Tournament

The Ed Thomas YMCA of McCook will be hosting the Spring Spectacular on May 11th, 2024. This will be a one-day, singles, non-PDGA sanctioned tournament located at Kelley Park in McCook. The format will be a two-round shotgun start.

Divisions offered are as follows:

· MPO (Mixed Pro Open)

· MA1 (Mixed Amateur 1)

· MA2 (Mixed Amateur 2)

· MJ15 (Mixed Junior 15)

Division disclaimer: For simplicity, this tournament will allow registration in one of four divisions. All divisions are co-ed and if your usual division is not listed, please register for the closest division in which you feel comfortable competing.

Registration: Opens March 1, 2024.

Registration Deadline: May 3, 2024.

Registration Fee: $25.00 (all divisions); $5 Ace Fund (See ace fund information for rules).

Ace fund information:

All registrants will be allowed to add to the Ace Pot at the time of registration. The ace fund will be an additional $5 fee. If an individual contributed to the ace fund and records an ace during gameplay, that individual will win the pot or be split amongst all recording an ace. If an ace is not recorded by any participant throughout both rounds, there will be a CTP side game played. In this game, each registrant in the ace pool will receive one throw from the tee-pad of hole 7 to the basket of hole 6, attempting to land their disc closest to hole 6 basket. The closest disc to the pin after all participants have thrown wins half the pot. The remaining half of the pot will be donated to the City of McCook in support of the approved disc golf course at Barnett Park.

Player Pack Policy:

The first 40 registrants will receive a player pack. The player pack is a custom designed YMCA disc.

Additional Information:

This event's rulebook will follow PDGA guidelines, although it is not a PDGA sanctioned event. OB's and other specific guidelines and rules as they pertain to the Kelley Park course will be discussed at the players’ meeting the day of the event.

All scoring will be kept using the UDisc app.

Playoff: Sudden death hole 7.

All participants will be required to sign a mandatory waiver at check-in before being allowed to participate in the event.

Viglianco Hoops Basketball Camp

Viglianco Hoops basketball camp will be back in McCook this summer following a successful camp this past December. This time, Thomas will be bringing former Nebraska Cornhusker standout and current European professional, Sam Griesel to help instruct participants.

Event Format: This two-day camp will take place on Thursday, June 20th & Friday, June 21st. One hour and a half per-division, per-day.

Divisions/Dates: Participants should register for the grade they will be entering in the 2024-2025 school year.

5th-6th Boys 11:00am-12:30pm
5th-8th Girls 12:30pm-2:00pm
7th-8th Boys 2:00pm-3:30pm

June 21st

5th-6th Boys 10:00am-11:30am
5th-8th Girls 11:30am-1:00pm
7th-8th Boys 1:00pm-2:30pm

Registration: Opens May 1. Participants register individually. Online registration is highly recommended to expedite the league management process and to avoid data entry errors. A current email address is required for all participants at time of registration as all camp communications with parents will be conducted through email.

Registration Fee/Deadline: $20 if registered by midnight on Monday, June 17th. Walk-up registrations will be accepted on the day of camp (June 20th). Walk-up registration fee is $25.

Equipment: Basketball/Athletic shoes are recommended. Black sole or non-athletic shoes are prohibited. Gym shorts are recommended. Participants are highly encouraged to bring their own basketball and water bottle.
