Marketing & Event Planning Internship

An internship with the Ed Thomas YMCA of McCook offers excellent insight into the world of Marketing, Promotions, and Non-profit Event Planning. Interns have the opportunity to earn college credit as well as gain the experience necessary to compete for positions in these industries. There are multiple internship openings available for the spring, summer, and fall terms. Join our team now for an opportunity to change lives!

Internship Dates:
Fall Semester: September  - December
Spring Semester: January - May
Start/End dates are somewhat flexible. Minimum hours expected are 10-15 hours per week. The YMCA of McCook is willing to work around school and work schedules.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with departmental staff on program and event marketing campaigns and strategies.
  • Develop interactive Social Media promotions to engage members and the community.
  • Create and manage Electronic Newsletters campaigns to educate the public about programs and services.
  • Represent the organization at Community Events to create awareness about programs and services. Interns must be available to work some weekends.
  • Assist staff in the planning, preparation, and execution of special events. Volunteer recruitment and logistics.
  • Assist with customer service.
Qualifications:
College students (or students preparing to enter college) majoring in Marketing, Communications, Event Planning, or a related field.  Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to organize multiple projects. The ideal candidate will possess advanced computer skills, extensive knowledge of social media, and graphic design capabilities. Strong communication skills and professionalism is a must. Must be able to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment.
