Rules To Remember

General Building Policies
  • All children ages 8 and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult, guardian, or sibling over the age of 16.
  • Offensive language, horseplay, disrespect of others, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Shirts and shoes are required at all times in the facility.
  • All food & drink products must remain in the lobby. Bottled water will be allowed throughout the facility.
  • Food & drink products are not allowed on game tables. Please also refrain from sitting on game tables.
  • All backpacks must remain in the lobby unless utilized for YMCA sponsored activities.
  • The use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs is prohibited.
  • Please help us maintain a clean environment by properly discarding all trash in the proper receptacles.
Weight Room Policies
  • Must always wear close-toed shoes.
  • Lift in a controlled manner and  refrain from dropping weights.
  • Put weights plates and dumbbells back after use.
  • Be courteous with time restraints on equipment, no loitering.
  • Lift responsibly, use a spotter.
  • No profanity or offensive language.
  • Children 13-15 years old may use the weight room if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian or upon completion of the Youth Wellness Training Program with a blue wristband.
  • Children 12 & under are not allowed from entering the weight room without a parent or guardian.
Wellness Center Policies
  • HYDRATE. Water only! Food and other beverages are not allowed in the wellness area.
  • BEHAVIOR. Offensive language, horseplay, disrespect of others, or inappropriate behaviors will not be tolerated.
  • ASK. If you are not sure how something works, please ask out wellness coaches.
  • COVER. Shirts must cover torso, no offensive language on them. Shorts must cover all your bottom. Closed toe athletic shoes for weight room, no Bare feet, Sandals, or Flip Flops.
  • TRAIN. Personal Trainers and coaches must be Ed Thomas YMCA staff.
  • CLEAN. Wipe down machines after using. Spray paper towel NOT the equipment.
  • MEDIA. Taking photos and videos of other members is not allowed.
  • FIT. Fitness area is open to members 16 yeas of age and above. Younger members are permitted as follow:
    • Children 9 years and under are not allowed on the wellness floor without the supervision of a parent or guardian. Children may attend Group Exercise classes with a parent/guardian beginning at age 7.
    • Children 10-12 years old: May use Cardio equipment if they are accompanied by their parent/guardian on the wellness floor or upon completion of the Youth Wellness Training Program with a red wristband.
    • Children 13-15 years old: May use strength equipment if they are accompanied by their parent/guardian in the weight room or upon completion of the Youth Wellness Training Program with a blue wristband.
    • Children 16-17 years old: Have no restrictions on wellness floor and weight room usage.
Saunas And Whirlpool
  • Adults Age 18 & Out Of High School Are Allowed.
  • Please Follow Safety Regulations Posted.
  • Men Must Check Out A Key At The Service Desk For Sauna.
Swimming Pool
  • The Pool Will Be Closed When Lifeguards Are Not Available.
  • Adults And Youth May Lap Swim In The East Lane Anytime The Lane Line Is In. Please Respect Others That May Be Using The Pool.
  • Pre-school Children And/Or Non Swimmers Must Have An Adult In The Water With Them And Within Arms Reach.
  • Family Locker Rooms Are Available In Pool Hallway For Those With Opposite Gender Children. Keys Are Available From Lifeguards.
  • No Diving During All Lap Swim Times.
  • All Persons Must Take A Soapy Shower Before Swimming. Please Use Shower Area To Dry Off To Keep The Locker Room Floors Dry And Safe.
  • Only Swim Attire In The Pool Area – No T-Shirts Or Cut-Offs In Water.
  • It Is A State Requirement For Any Child That Wears Diapers And Will Be Using The Pool To Wear “Little Swimmers”.
  • No Shoes On The Pool Deck.
  • Must Wear Shoes And Be Properly Attired When In Areas Other Than The Pool.
  • All Safety Regulations Are Posted In The Pool Hallway.
  • Please Respect All YMCA Members By Not Taking Older Boys/Girls Into The Opposite Gender Locker Rooms. 
Lockers Available for Rent
  • Men’s Lockers #1 - #40.
  • Women’s Lockers #1 - #38.
  • Available to members only.
  • Members must provide their own lock.
  • The YMCA of McCook reserves the right to inspect the contents of the lockers without notice.
  • The storage of food, liquor, weapons, drugs, glass containers, or flammable materials is prohibited.
  • Locker Rental Fee of $5 per month or $60 per year, payable only with membership fees. Fees will not be pro-rated and are non-refundable. 
Day Use Lockers
  • Men’s Lockers #41 - #114.
  • Women’s Lockers #39 - #94. 
  • Available to members and day pass guests.
  • Members and guests must provide their own lock.
  • All belongings and locks must be removed at the end of the day. The YMCA of McCook reserves the right to remove and dispose of any items left overnight in day use lockers. Any locks left on lockers will be cut and destroyed.
  • The storage of food, liquor, weapons, drugs, glass containers, or flammable materials is prohibited.
Weather Policy
The YMCA of McCook will follow the following poor weather policy.
  • YMCA Group Exercise classes are on regular schedule when the facility is open.
  • Building hours will vary depending on the severity of the weather and staff availability.
